Profile:

This Face 2 Face sheme covering Exeter, Mid and East Devon has now been running for just over 3 years, having set up in April 2007. The scheme is funded by a local charity called A Brighter Tomorrow.

Trained volunteer befrienders provide individual emotional support to parents who have a child with additional support needs. The aim of the service is to reduce the isolation felt by many parents by listening in an empathic and non-judgemental way. Following the support from a befriender, parents often say that they feel more positive, confident and able to cope with the challenges ahead. Parents also say they feel more confident in accessing other services.

Over the past 3 years nearly 100 families have received support from the service.

If you have any questions about the service, would like to make a referral (including a self referral) or would like to train to become a befriender, please contact Bel McDonald directly either by phone or email.
