If you are a parent
of a child with special needs. Face 2 Face is here to help.
At Face 2 Face parents who have a child with a disability
themselves have formed a network of friendship and support
for other parents. Finding out that your child has a disability
or special need is a very painful and traumatic experience
for most parents. The shock and feeling of guilt, anxiety
and isolation can be unbearable. This is where we can provide
emotional support. All our befrienders are trained to enable
them to give the best possible support to other parents. They
remember how they had wanted to talk to someone who could
understand what they were feeling at the time.
Research shows that
parents really do benefit from the type of help a befriender
can give.
We are in partnership
with the White Lodge Centre
in Chertsey who cover West Surrey referrals.
East Surrey Face 2
Face now meets every Friday during term time 9.30-11.30 at
the Reigate and Redhill YMCA (address above). This new initiative
is for parents/carers of children with special needs to meet
informally for a friendly chat, support and information plus
refreshments. We welcome all and do not hesitate to bring
