If you are interested in becoming a befriender you can first contact the Face
2 Face co-ordinator who will send you some information to make sure you know
what is involved.
If you are still interested, the project co-ordinator will then arrange a
visit to talk to you about Face 2 Face and the skills needed by a befriender.
You will be asked about your own child’s diagnosis and disability. You
will also be asked what you feel you can offer to a new parent, and if you
have any experience of this type of work.
You will also need
to provide two referees, one professional and one personal.
We will also carry out police checks, as a matter of routine,
on all befrienders.
The purpose of the interview is to make sure all our befrienders have the
skills needed to support other parents, or can develop these skills with
the help of training. |
