The Strengthening
Families training course is suitable for anyone
who works with or supports parents and families who have a
disabled child or a child with additional support needs; this
includes relationship counsellors, teachers, health workers,
social workers or agencies that have direct contact with the
families. Click here

It aims to provide
professionals and supporters with the basic skills to work
empathically with families of disabled children, to support
them through these emotional times and help build stronger
relationships within the family.
The day-long training
course consists of four modules addressing the impact of disability
on family relationships and the skills required by professionals
and supporters to enable families to manage these stresses.
It covers areas such as active listening, contemplation and
reflection as well as specific emotional issues parents may
encounter.
This training course
is an excellent introduction for professionals and supporters
with limited experience or knowledge in this area but it can
also be used as a refresher course.
Individuals can
attend multi-agency training events or organisations/establishments
can book courses directly.

Individual

Strengthening Families training courses
will be held at various locations across the country for individual
delegates to attend.
This option allows
individuals from multi-agencies to train together and is ideal
for the sharing of best practice
and experiences
within various professional fields.
This will allow
organisations/establishments the opportunity to send either
individuals or several employees or volunteers at a time on
this training. Self-employed individuals will also have the
opportunity to attend these courses.
The course is delivered
over one day and will include refreshments and light lunch.

The training is

The course is delivered
over one day and we will deliver the course for up to 20 people.
All we ask is that
you provide the venue (in-house or elsewhere), equipment and
lunch for delegates. We will do the rest!
